Get Glitzy for New Year! My New Year's Eve Makeup Tips.

My rule of thumb for New Years Eve makeup is to go dark, dramatic and glittery! I feel like it’s the only other night aside from Halloween that you can really go all out. My favorite look is to do a dark smoky eye with a baby pink blush and lip and then chunky money glitter on the lids. Most of the time it’s hard to pull of real, chunky glitter—but for New Year, I say it’s a must!

When I was backstage at New York Fashion Week for the fall 2011 shows one of the head makeup artists taught me the coolest trick for applying glitter. Basically, what you do is apply clear lip-gloss onto your lids (focus on the ball of your eye) and then add a little tap of glitter on top. The gloss acts like glue but it’s a lot smoother on your lid, it’s not as abrasive and it’s not to hard to remove at the end of the night. The finished look is so pretty—when you blink, it just shimmers everywhere!
