Keep your hair hydrated

Curly hair gets unruly when it's not moisturized. Make sure your hair stays healthy and hydrated by choosing products rich in vitamins, minerals and other nourishing ingredients, such as fruit extracts. Use heated styling tools such as blow dryers and flat irons as little as possible. They suck the life out of your hair. Use leave-in conditioner on a daily basis to define your curls and smooth the cuticle.

Invest in colorful scarves

One of the best ways to keep your curl hair under control in windy weather is to cover it up. Head scarves and wraps can be worn in a variety of ways. You can fold the scarf diagonally and place the fold on your forehead, then tie the ends at the back of your neck. For something more dramatic, drape a long scarf around your head, crossing the ends under your chin and then placing them over your shoulders (towards your back).

Pull your hair into an updo

Don't try too hard during windy weather. Avoid overly-coifed hairstyles and instead, consider a messy updo, simple braid or basic ponytail. If you want to let you hair down when you reach your destination, pull your hair up or twist your braid loosely. Then after you let it down, rub a little pomade or mousse into your hands and run your fingers through your hair to restore your style.
